About

Inspired by the rich collection of lyrics and melodies that have become synonymous with Julie Andrews, award-winning singer/actor, Shana Farr weaves together an evening of songs that represent not only great American standards by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, the Gershwins, and the Sherman Brothers, but also beautiful, lesser-known numbers by Henry Mancini, Arthur Schwartz, Noel Coward, Jimmy van Heusen and more.

Ms. Farr brings her own voice and interpretations to these timeless songs that help her pay tribute to a performer she holds in high regard. Throughout the show, she shares stories about how a young English girl, Julie Andrews, quickly became America’s sweetheart and influenced the great songwriters of both Broadway and Hollywood.

The Julie Andrews Songbook: Whistling Away the Dark has been performed for sold-out audiences in New York City – Feinstein’s at The Regency and Feinstein's 54 Below, The Players and the Metropolitan Room, at Crazy Coqs in London as well as The Pheasantry, and in several states across the US. She has received stellar reviews for every performance, including two 5-Star reviews for her performances in London.

Music arrangements were done by Fred Barton, which compliment Shana's voice with a full and luscious sound. Can be performed with piano, or with a combination of piano, cello, and bass.

Farr can be torchy, or buoyant, and ranges from operetta to the bouncy flavour of the Twenties.
